Union are getting closer to the bottom of the table

Union Berlin have had a very difficult start to the season. After four matchdays, Mauro Lustrinelli’s side are still without a win and sit 17th in the table with one point. They lost 0-7 to Bayern Munich in the last round, having suffered two consecutive defeats before that.

Union Berlin have had a very difficult start to the season. After four matchdays, Mauro Lustrinelli’s side are still without a win and sit 17th in the table with one point. They lost 0-7 to Bayern Munich in the last round, having suffered two consecutive defeats before that.

Union’s situation is also complicated by the large number of players unavailable. Lustrinelli is currently unable to call on Marvin Friedrich, Stanley Nsoki and Oliver Burke, among others. The defensive absences are particularly keenly felt: having conceded 17 goals in four matchdays, they are a major concern. Union have also scored just four goals so far.

The international break could therefore be an important opportunity for the Berliners to get their squad situation in order. The return of more players could help Lustrinelli stabilise a team sitting just above the bottom of the table after four matches.
