Undav is back in the starting lineup

Deniz Undav returned to Stuttgart’s starting lineup for the match against Borussia Dortmund. The VfB captain began the previous game against Hoffenheim on the bench, but was back in the starting XI against the league leaders. He failed to find the net, however. Stuttgart held on to a goalless draw for a long time, but conceded late on after Maximilian Beier scored.

Deniz Undav returned to Stuttgart’s starting lineup for the match against Borussia Dortmund. The VfB captain began the previous game against Hoffenheim on the bench, but was back in the starting eleven against the league leaders. However, he failed to score. Stuttgart held on to a goalless draw for much of the match, but conceded late on to a goal from Maximilian Beier.

It was an important match for Undav, particularly as the striker is still waiting for his first league goal of the season. Stuttgart have just three points and six goals after four rounds, so a greater attacking contribution from their captain will be important for the team.

Tiago Tomás was among those missing against Dortmund as he continues to recover from a muscle injury, while Justin Diehl, Dennis Seimen and Dan-Axel Zagadou also remain sidelined. Luca Jaquez was absent too, having previously struggled with muscle problems. Angelo Stiller, meanwhile, returned to the squad. Stuttgart are currently 15th and will be looking for points after the international break to improve their situation.
