Patrik Schick has made an excellent start to the season. The Bayer Leverkusen striker has scored in each of the first four Bundesliga matchdays, and he opened the scoring in the latest game against RB Leipzig. Bayer won 2-0, with Miguel Gutiérrez scoring the second goal after providing the assist for the Czech forward’s strike. Schick now has four league goals and is among the leading scorers.
The team’s squad situation is not ideal, however. Guéla Doué remains sidelined after suffering a muscle injury in his right calf. Montrell Culbreath and Eliesse Ben Seghir are also dealing with fitness problems. The good news is that Nathan Tella has returned to full training. The winger should therefore be another option for Carles Martínez after the international break.
The win over Leipzig was Leverkusen’s third consecutive league game without defeat. After four matches, Leverkusen have collected seven points and sit fifth. The team now faces a longer break, followed by an away trip to Mainz. It will be an opportunity for Leverkusen to extend their good run, and for Schick to continue his impressive scoring streak.
