La Liga Injury Watch: Gavi and Villarreal Hit Hardest

Barcelona's Gavi and several Villarreal players lead the list of long-term absentees in Spain's top flight.

La Liga continues to see the effects of long-term injuries, with Barcelona and Villarreal bearing the heaviest burden. Gavi, one of the most exciting young midfielders in Spanish football, has now missed 22 fixtures. His energy and technical ability in the heart of midfield remain irreplaceable for Barcelona.

Villarreal face an even deeper crisis. Lucas Costa, Pablo Cabanes, and Willy Kambwala have each missed 22 fixtures, leaving the Yellow Submarine with significant gaps across the squad. Their depth has been severely tested.

Athletic Club are also without Benat Prados Diaz for the same period, disrupting their midfield plans.

In more recent developments, Real Madrid had Raul Asencio and Dani Ceballos missing from their latest matchday squad, while Getafe were without Djene and Allan Abqar against Los Blancos.

Borja Iglesias at Celta Vigo is another name to monitor. The striker's absence leaves Celta short on firepower during a tight mid-table battle. Managing these injuries will be key as the league enters its decisive phase.
