RB Leipzig lost 0:2 to Bayer Leverkusen, with the team’s injury situation drawing attention. Brajan Gruda had to leave the pitch with an injury in the first half. The attacking player was substituted in the 26th minute, joining a group of players Martín Demichelis is currently unable to call upon.
Leipzig had already been dealing with several injury problems. Christoph Baumgartner, Castello Lukeba, Rocco Reitz, Assan Ouédraogo and Marc Guiu are all unavailable. Reitz and Lukeba are struggling with muscle injuries, Ouédraogo is recovering from shoulder surgery, and Guiu is being treated for a thigh muscle injury. Gruda’s situation is another question mark ahead of the next match.
After four rounds, Leipzig have six points and sit ninth in the table. The team made a strong start to the season, beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 3:0, but have since lost two of their next three matches. The international break will therefore give Demichelis a chance not only to work on the team’s play, but also to assess which players could return to the squad.
